What is the effect of a grant of arms?

It does not confer any rank or title but it is a symbol or sign for the tradition of your family. A grant creates a form of property which is vested in the grantee who may, according to the traditional formula, display the arms on shields, banner, letter-heads or otherwise, according to the law of arms! Additional it guarantee your full opwnership of your arms and makes the arms inheritable to your descendants.
Note: In Germany are granted and recorded arms protected from misuse by civil law. (As part and accesory symbol of your name. Article 12 ff. German Civil Code)
